LEADER

is a local development method which has been used for 30 years to engage local actors in the design and delivery of strategies, decision-making and resource allocation for the development of their rural areas.

LEADER in Armenia

LEADER came to Armenia with the official launch of the LEAD Program in 2021. LEAD4Shirak and LEAD4Lori&Tavush Projects are part of the Local Empowerment of Actors for Development (LEAD) Program funded by the European Union. They both are based on the LEADER, which is a rural development methodology that bring the local authorities, the civil society organizations and the business sector together for the development of their local area.
Currently there are 3 local action groups established in Shirak region and 5 local action groups in Lori and Tavush.
